Chorus
Take me back to that little peaceful valley At the end of that long Norwegian fjord The picture that my grandpa always carried Of the place my family left so long before I recall the Midwest summers when grandma and grandpa were still alive the smell of granny’s “lefse” on the oven Grandpa’s stories of the land they left behind Now the old man he was proud of where he came from and he passed that feeling down to us although a better life was what he came for the old country was always his first love Chorus Take me back ... Sometimes my mind will take me ‘cross the ocean If I close my eyes and let my spirit run there I see the beauty of snowcapped mountains Bathing in the light of the midnight sun Chorus Take me back... |
