PAST Lodge EVENTS:

October 4, 2025: For the first time, The Music City Vikings had a booth at the Celebrate Nashville Cultural Festival at Centennial Park in Nashville, TN. We talked to hundreds of people about the Sons of Norway, connected about living in Nashville with Norwegian or Norwegian-American heritage, and gave away nearly 100 lefse samples made by members of the lodge! Thank you to the Sons of Norway Foundation for awarding us a grant that allowed us to purchase the wonderful banners and pens pictured below!

May 17, 2025: The Music City Vikings held their annual Syttende Mai picnic at Jim Warren Park in Nashville, TN. We enjoyed fellowship, delicious food, and a celebration of Norway's Constitution Day!

December 8, 2024: The Music City Vikings lodge again hosted the annual Julefest dinner at the Brentwood Country Club. We enjoyed a traditional Norwegian dinner of meatballs, vegetables, and potatoes followed by an overflowing dessert buffet. We also expanded our fundraising efforts to support our lodge by selling beautiful ornaments - handmade by MCV member Sandy Lane - as well as lefse and a silent auction of gift baskets full of Scandinavian goodies. It was a wonderful celebration!

September 1, 2024: Several members of The Music City Vikings attended the exhibit featuring Thomas Dambo's "Trolls" at Cheekwood. Despite some rainy weather, members had a blast! The first picture shown from this event was featured in a Viking magazine article later in 2025, seen in the slideshow below!

May 19, 2024: The Music City Vikings held their annual Syttende Mai picnic at Two Rivers Park in Nashville, TN. We remembered our president emeritus, Oscar Krosnes, who passed away on May 17, welcomed some first time visitors, celebrated Sharon and Sharol’s birthday, and enjoyed fellowship with old and new friends!

December 10, 2023: The Music City Vikings lodge hosted the annual Julefest dinner, welcoming 80 people to the Brentwood Country Club. We enjoyed a dinner of meatballs, vegetables, and potatoes followed by an overflowing dessert buffet. After dinner, we were treated to entertainment by Solveig Leithaug and Meghan Perdue and ended the night with a dance around the Christmas tree. The event was written up in a great article in the Green Hills News.

May 20, 2023: The Music City Vikings held their annual Syttende Mai picnic at Aspen Grove Park in Franklin, TN. Even though the weather was not on our side, we welcomed friends from Minnesota, Illinois, and Colorado as well as some new local faces! Hot dogs and ice cream were enjoyed by all!

More than 70 Music City Vikings members and guests gathered at Brentwood Country Club on December 11, 2022 for the first Julefest celebration in two years! We enjoyed Norwegian trivia, a sing-along led by Carol Fiddler with holiday favorites, and a wonderful Norwegian smorgasbord - complete with meatballs and gravy, lefse, and desserts!

Music City Vikings members and guests celebrated Syttende Mai 2022 at Aspen Grove Park in Franklin. Everyone enjoyed the beautiful outdoor setting for song and dance, along with a wonderful picnic buffet - complete with Norwegian favorites!

Music City Vikings members gathered for coffee and conversation in December at the home of Cultural Director, Evelyn McDaniel. Everyone enjoyed a julbord with lefse, krumkake, and other treats. And, MCV President, Oscar Krosnes was the lucky one to find the hidden almond in the Christmas rice pudding! It was fun to be together and we look forward to Julefest in 2022!

Friends, family, and fellow Music City Vikings members joined together in August to honor MCV President, Oscar Krosnes on his 90th birthday! MCV Vice President, Art Lensgraf welcomed everyone and MCV Membership Secretary, Karen Kennedy shared her piano talents by accompanying the group for a singalong of Norwegian favorites. We also celebrated Sharon Lassiter and her twin sister, Sharol Hopwood on their 80th birthday (in May). And, our newest MCV member Michael Grindberg, brought his beautiful hand-made Viking ship to share with the group.

Music City Vikings members Sharon Lassiter and Sharol Hopwood were featured in the Sons of Norway Viking magazine in September 2020. Due to Covid-19, the lodge was not hosting live events so the twin sisters celebrated Syttende Mai at home with hot dogs and great attitudes.
